Clare’s first love has always been weather. She achieved a BSC in Mathematics and a MSC in Applied Marine Science at Plymouth University, where she specialised in the mathematics of the atmosphere and oceans. After leaving university she trained at the Met Office in 1993 as a weather forecaster and spent the next eight years forecasting and presenting the weather.

Clare has worked has in Met Office departments in London, Norwich and Plymouth. Her duties included aviation, marine and agricultural forecasting, radio weather bulletins and interviews and newspaper articles. She presented on Anglia TV before moving to Carlton.

Clare joined GMTV in 2000. Her duties include weather producer and presenter, with full responsibility for all weather output and science related features on GMTV, such as renewable energy and climate change strands.

Additionally, Clare also presents travel reports from worldwide destinations. She continues to be affiliated with Plymouth University and spends some of her free time talking to school classes about weather, climate change and science. Clare has also studied for an additional degree in Science and Environment.

Clare is married to Chris Hawkins, presenter on BBC 6 Music. Apart from her passion for weather and science, Clare loves music and spends her spare time attending live gigs and playing saxophone and guitar at home.

Clare also writes a weekly book column in NOW Magazine.
